Information about the monthly meetings of the Society
The Society normally holds monthly meetings from September through June, except for the month in which we hold our Annual Show. (This year the show is in May.)
At each meeting there is time for members to socialize and browse. A show and tell table is set up where members can display recent work or acquisitions. (A portion of the meeting is set aside for members to tell the group about what they've brought in.)
Members are free to set up a table to trade or sell items and there are usually several members with goods on offer. Some are regular sellers and dealers for companies such as W. Britain, Del Prado, etc. Others are members who occasionally want to thin out their collections. There's always a good variety of things to browse through including painted figures and sets, kits, books and magazines, and more.
In the formal part of the meeting we discuss current Society business and events and then there will usually be a 30 to 45 minute presentation by a guest speaker or member. This could be a historical lecture or a talk on technique or some other aspect of the hobby.
There is usually a monthly draw for a selection of hobby items.
As part of the October meeting the Society holds its Annual General Meeting. At this time the officers for the coming year are elected. (They take office in January.)
Our November meeting is usually devoted to our annual auction. Members may put up items for auction and the bidding is often lively.
At our December meeting we hold a special Christmas luncheon for our members and invited guests.
